Memcached is a commonly used distributed memory object caching platform, which can increase the loading speed and the overall performance of your Internet sites significantly if they use a database or an API. This is accomplished by caching the calls to the API/database and the responses that are delivered, so if someone conducts a search for a given product on your website, for instance, the database will not have to be accessed to display the results and the whole task will be performed much faster. That goes for all kinds of database-driven applications and not only for e-commerce portals, as every time a particular page is accessed, the app sends a request to its database to fetch the content that should be displayed. With Memcached, not only will your website open noticeably faster, but it will also produce much less server load. If any data in the database is edited, the cached responses will also be ‘refreshed’, so the users will not see any old info.
Memcached in Shared Hosting
When you host script-based sites in a shared hosting account with us, you will be able to add the Memcached distributed memory object caching system to your shared hosting package with just a couple of mouse clicks through your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. The upgrade will be available instantaneously and, since the PHP extension required for it is pre-installed on our innovative cloud web hosting platform, you can begin using it right away. To give you more versatility, we offer two separate upgrades related to the number of instances (i.e. how many sites will use Memcached) and to the amount of system memory that the Memcached caching system will use. The latter comes in increments of 16 MB and you can add memory as many times as you need. Naturally, the more memory the Memcached caching system is allowed to use, the more content it will cache, so in case you own a resource-absorbing site with a lot of data, you may need more memory so as to be able to take advantage of the power that Memcached can give you.
Memcached in Semi-dedicated Servers
You can get the Memcached distributed memory caching system as an optional upgrade with all our Linux semi-dedicated servers and since it works with any script-powered web app, you can use it for every site that you host on our platform, regardless of what app you have used – Mambo, WordPress or Joomla, a custom-created one, etc. You can order the upgrade through the corresponding section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel from which you manage your semi-dedicated account, and you can select two separate features – the number of instances and the amount of memory that they will use. In simple terms, these things determine the number of the sites that will use Memcached and how much memory the system will be able to use in order to cache your info. The two features are ordered independently for more freedom and one instance does not come bundled with a fixed amount of system memory. You can make use of the Memcached system with any type of website and both you and your website visitors will quickly note the difference in the performance.
Memcached in VPS Servers
Memcached is offered by default with every VPS server that we offer if you choose Hepsia as your Control Panel, so you won’t need to pay anything extra to be able to use the maximum potential of this memory caching system. The more powerful package you select, the more system memory Memcached will have for information storage purposes, but you’ll have at least several hundred MB at all times, which is much more than what you’d get with a shared hosting plan. This will permit you to use the Memcached system for multiple Internet sites, regardless of how busy they are, which in turn goes to say that you can use a lower-end package for them without overloading the server. The caching system is excellent for script-based software apps such as WordPress, Joomla, OpenCart or Mambo, and you can use it even with a custom app. Shortly after you enable Memcached, it will begin storing data and you’ll detect the enhanced performance of your websites.
Memcached in Dedicated Servers
Memcached is available free of charge with all dedicated servers that we’re offering and the only requirement is that the server must be ordered with the Hepsia Control Panel. You can use the distributed memory caching system for any database-driven website, including those based on widely used web-based apps – for example, a WordPress personal blog or a Joomla-driven community site. Each server comes with a specific amount of memory that the Memcached caching system can use, but the minimum you’ll get is three gigabytes, which is quite enough to increase the loading speed of extremely popular websites considerably, since this memory will be dedicated to storing the cached data. The Memcached system will start storing data as soon as it is activated, so soon after that, you will see the optimized performance of your Internet sites and the lowered load on the dedicated server. A lot of sites use Memcached to increase their efficiency, including popular ones such as Reddit and Wikipedia.
